Colne Yacht Club offers lots of opportunities to get afloat. Potential new members are always welcome to come down and chat to a member of the Main Committee or one of our Instructors to find out how best to get on the water. Over the last few years 3 particular sections have grown in popularity, with members finding them a great way to meet new friends.
WOW – Women on the Water meet alternate Thursday mornings throughout the summer. With experienced female skippers running our 4 club Sonatas it is an ideal way to learn the ropes. At the same time our club ribs will be out encouraging women to learn how to steer a power boat. After a morning full of laughter, encouragement and new skills everyone is welcome in the club house for a quick snack.
BOB- Blokes in Boats is run on a Sunday Morning, again an ideal opportunity to meet like minded sailors who fancy a jaunt down the river while learning new skills, usually followed by a pint in the bar!
Wednesday Night Sonata Racing – When the gun goes off around 6pm on a Wednesday evening the real competitive streak comes out. Newly qualified Sonata graduates are encouraged to come along and take the helm to compete in this ever popular 2 race night. It’s just around the cans, out to Bateman’s Tower and back. A good spectator sport too, followed by a few bevvies at the Oar Store Bar. A must for anyone wanting to get involved.
